SummaryRedwire Space Missions, LLC has a current opportunity for a Software Engineerlocated at our facility in Littleton, CO. In this position, you will assist with the design, testing and integration of simulation and test software that will be used to validate flight software, Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) algorithms, and general operation of a satellite system. This role includes working with full software systems for modeling and simulation and performing integration with other software systems and hardware-in-the-loop. You will work closely with the flight software team, systems engineering, and electrical engineering to assemble a digital twin and flat sat for the mission. ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain, and configure simulation and test software to meet requirements for validating flight software, GN&C algorithms, and general satellite operationTranslate system requirements for digital twins and flat sats into software architectures, designs, and implementations.Create component emulators which will be used to validate flight software modules and execute mission day in the life testsImplement or adapt test software to execute full verification and validation tests on the spacecraft during assembly, integration, and test (AI&T) operationsWork with electrical engineering to design a flat sat which is an accurate representation of the spacecraft.Perform unit, integration, and system-level software testing, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments.Document project progress, software design, implementation, and testing processesAdhere to all safety protocols and procedures while working with the test bench unitAssist with troubleshooting technical issues with simulation and test software systemsUse software development best practices and version control proceduresEnsure compliance with aerospace quality standards and configuration management processesCollaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, avionics, and mission operationsIdeal ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related fieldProficiency in C++ and PythonProficiency with Linux and shell scriptingExperience working with real time systemsFamiliarity with spacecraft avionics interfaces and protocols (e.g., MIL-STD-1553, CAN, SpaceWire, RS-422, Ethernet).Experience with Object Oriented software developmentExperience with version control systems (Git, SVN) and issue tracking tools (JIRA)Occasional travel requiredMust be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance.Desired SkillsFamiliarity with Maven and CMake for dependency management and buildsExperience working with hardware-in-the-loop, including mission critical hardwareExperience with modeling and simulationFamiliarity with basic aerospace principles and satellite designExperience working in an Agile development environmentExperience with containers (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes) and microservicesStrong communication and organizational skillsPay Range$95,000 – $135,000How We Determine What We Pay (Compensation Philosophy)Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position.
