Rantoul City Schools is hiring a Certified School Nurse. The school nurse will assess patient health problems, administer care to ill/injured students, develop and implement health care plans with physician/school personnel, provide appropriate trainings to staff, and maintain student medical records. The position requires Illinois Type 73 (Pupil Personnel Services Certificate), Bachelor's Degree, Certified School Nurse Licensure (ISBE), Registered Nurse licensure, Illinois, Current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation program completion, Current AED program completion, Illinois Certification as a Vision and Hearing Screening technician, and prior professional nursing experience, preferably pediatric, adolescent, community or mental health nursing. The nurse will oversee Registered Nurses at assigned buildings, participate in IEP evaluations, develop a coordinated school health program, establish an accident/injury prevention program, manage school health records, participate in Child Find programs, develop health-related policies and procedures, provide professional development programs on health topics, provide health related classroom instruction, develop a medication protocol, supervise and provide screening and follow up for deficits in vision, hearing, growth and development, maintain accurate medical records, participate as crisis team member, maintain a user friendly and organized health services facility, purchase and maintain health and OSHA supplies and equipment, manage the health services annual budget, maintain communication with administrators, teachers, other school personnel, and parents/guardians, maintain confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues, participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the identification, evaluation, and placement of students into special education programs, write the health component of the Individual Education Plan as directed, recommend modifications of the school program for students who require accommodations due to a health deficit, develop and maintain current health care plans for students who need special nursing interventions during the school day, participate as a member of the faculty on district committees and association activities, participate as an active member of the school community, representing health/wellness, and other responsibilities as assigned by the Building Principal, Superintendent and/or the Board of Education. Regular work attendance is required. The position involves standing, walking, sitting, using hands dexterously, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping/kneeling/crouching or crawling, talking or hearing, and lifting up to 100 pounds.
