LearningWorks After School Teaching Assistant Location: Southern Maine, Multiple Locations Schedule: Part-time After School (Sept - May) Compensation: $19.85ABOUT USLearningWorks is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering youth and families through education, workforce development, and community service. We foster a collaborative and inclusive workplace where staff are encouraged to bring compassion, creativity, and authenticity to their work every day.ABOUT LEARNINGWORKS AFTERSCHOOL (LWAS)LearningWorks Afterschool (LWAS) provides high-quality academic and enrichment programming for elementary students. LWAS partners with local school districts to help students strengthen foundational literacy and mathematics skills, improve school engagement, and develop the social-emotional skills necessary for academic success.LearningWorks Afterschool is funded primarily through 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) grants and is delivered in partnership with local school districts.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Teaching Assistant works alongside the Site Coordinator and classroom Teachers to provide academic support to elementary students participating in the LearningWorks Afterschool Program.This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building meaningful relationships with children and believes every student can succeed when provided with encouragement, consistency, and individualized support. The Teaching Assistant plays an important role in creating a structured, welcoming classroom where students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.WHAT YOU'LL DOSupport teachers in delivering engaging academic instruction and enrichment activities that reinforce school-day learningProvide small-group and one-on-one academic support Work collaboratively with Teachers, Site Coordinators, and school staff to meet individual student needsObserve student progress and communicate success and concerns with Teachers and Teaching Site CoordinatorsParticipate in weekly team meetings, staff trainings, and professional development opportunitiesWHAT YOU WILL BRINGExperience working with youth; experience with elementary-aged students preferredStrong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skillsExperience using technology, including Microsoft Outlook, Google Drive Suite, Zoom, and other educational technology platformsDemonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team environmentSome college preferredQUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma Experience working with youth LearningWorks is an equal opportunity employer.
