The unit has 14 labor beds, 2 operating rooms, 6 recovery bays, and 8 antepartum beds. There are 40 staff members on the team. The day shift typically includes 1 charge nurse, 3-4 RNs, and 1-2 CSTs. The night shift typically includes 1 charge nurse, 3-4 RNs, and 1-2 CSTs. Patient ratios are 1:2 for labor and 1:4 for antepartum. Commonly used equipment includes GE EFM and CPN EMR Meditech/Centricity Perinatal. Most recruited skill sets include NRP and labor management. Candidates must have the ability to circulate in Labor and Delivery OR. Typical procedures performed in the unit include vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, bilateral tubal ligations, D&C, uterine tamponade devices, magnesium drip and titration, and Pitocin drip and titration. The ideal candidate will be positive, compassionate, and flexible. The unit may float to antepartum and postpartum as assigned. Weekend shifts are required, and there is a rotating call schedule. Dress code is royal blue scrubs.
