Associate Director, Enterprise Warehousing
jobgether
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Associate Director, Enterprise Warehousing based in United States.
This senior leadership role oversees the performance and execution of a regional warehouse network spanning plant-attached facilities and third-party logistics (3PL) distribution centers. You will drive operational excellence across safety, service, cost, quality, inventory, and productivity. The position combines strategic network leadership with hands-on performance management, financial ownership, and continuous improvement. Working in a matrixed environment, you will collaborate with Plant Operations, Transportation, DSD, Finance, Procurement, and Commercial teams. You will establish consistent operating models, governance routines, and performance standards across geographically dispersed locations. The role also provides an opportunity to develop high-performing warehouse leaders while influencing cost-to-serve, service levels, and working capital across the broader organization.
Accountabilities:
- Lead multi-site warehouse operations across plant-attached facilities and 3PL distribution centers, ensuring consistent performance in safety, service, cost, quality, inventory, and productivity.
- Establish and govern standardized warehouse operating models, processes, systems, roles, expectations, and performance rhythms across locations.
- Own the transition and ongoing governance of plant warehouse reporting structures within the Logistics organization, establishing clear accountability for operational and financial performance.
- Lead strategic and operational relationships with regional 3PL partners, establishing service-level agreements, cost expectations, KPIs, governance routines, and corrective-action plans.
- Partner with Procurement and Finance on sourcing decisions, contracts, financial controls, cost optimization, and supplier performance.
- Own warehouse performance metrics covering OTIF, fill rate, order accuracy, cost per unit, labor productivity, budget adherence, safety, inventory accuracy, damage, and shrink.
- Lead regular operating reviews, root-cause analyses, action planning, and data-driven performance improvement initiatives.
- Own the regional warehouse operating budget, including plant and 3PL expenditures, and lead monthly plan-versus-actual reviews, variance analysis, and forecasting.
- Deliver productivity savings and cost-to-serve improvements aligned with annual operating plans and broader business objectives.
- Identify and implement network optimization opportunities involving warehouse footprint, automation, technology, systems enhancements, and operational processes.
- Leverage analytics and performance insights to identify improvement opportunities and standardize best practices across the warehouse network.
- Partner with DSD leadership to align service expectations, inventory positioning, warehouse support requirements, cost-to-serve visibility, and governance processes while maintaining clear ownership boundaries.
- Lead and develop a team of multi-site warehouse leaders, including direct and indirect reports, with a focus on performance management, talent development, succession planning, and leadership capability.
- Foster a culture centered on safety, accountability, operational discipline, continuous improvement, and high performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in warehouse operations, logistics, distribution, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-site warehouse operations, including third-party logistics environments.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience owning operating budgets, managing costs, analyzing variances, and driving productivity improvements.
- Proven ability to lead geographically dispersed operations and deliver measurable results across safety, service, cost, quality, and financial performance.
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills and the ability to influence stakeholders effectively within a matrixed organization, including without direct authority.
- Experience building, developing, and motivating high-performing operational teams and future leaders.
- Ability to translate strategic objectives into practical execution plans, operating standards, KPIs, and measurable outcomes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use operational data to identify root causes and guide business decisions.
- Experience managing external logistics partners, including performance governance, service-level expectations, contracts, and continuous improvement.
- Experience in consumer packaged goods, food, manufacturing, or regulated environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems such as SAP EWM and analytics or performance-management tools is preferred.
- MBA or another advanced degree is preferred.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or comparable continuous-improvement certification is a plus.
- Strong communication, stakeholder-management, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Ability to take full accountability for results while balancing operational priorities, financial objectives, customer service, and employee safety.
Benefits:
- Work arrangement: Remote position based in the United States.
- Leadership impact: Regional responsibility across multiple plant-attached and 3PL warehouse locations, with significant influence on service, cost-to-serve, and working capital performance.
- Career growth: Opportunities to develop leadership capabilities, advance operational expertise, and contribute to high-impact strategic initiatives.
- Team leadership: Opportunity to build and develop multi-site warehouse leadership teams and future organizational leaders.
- Professional development: Support for continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives, with Lean/Six Sigma experience valued.
- Technology exposure: Opportunities to work with warehouse management systems, analytics tools, automation, and network optimization initiatives.
- Cross-functional environment: Collaboration with Logistics, Operations, Transportation, DSD, Finance, Procurement, Commercial, and other business functions.
- Culture: Strong focus on safety, accountability, inclusion, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Equal opportunity: Employment opportunities are provided without discrimination based on legally protected characteristics.
