Unit Overview

Join our dynamic team in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory where we provide comprehensive care for patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. Our facility fosters a professional environment dedicated to excellence in patient care.

Position Details

• Profession: Registered Nurse
• Specialty: Cath Lab
• Shift: Day 4x10-Hour (07:30 - 18:00)
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years
• Float Requirement: As needed
• Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend every 5th or 6th
• Call Requirement: 1 night a week

Patient Demographics

This position caters to adults and geriatric patients. The daily census averages 30 patients with 5 procedure rooms available.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care in the cardiac cath lab, including but not limited to:

• Circulating and scrubbing procedures in the cardiac cath lab.
• Monitoring and managing patient conditions during procedures.
• Performing sheath removal and monitoring.
• Administering medications and procedural sedation.
• Implementing infection prevention strategies.
• Adhering to safety protocols regarding radiation and laser use.

Required Skills and Certifications

Candidates must possess the following skills and certifications:

• ACLS and BLS certifications
• End-tidal CO2 monitoring
• Activated Clotting Time (ACT)
• Cardioversion and circulatory procedures
• Instrument proficiency in diagnostic and interventional catheterizations
• Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• Experience with vascular closure systems

Preferred Skills and Experience

While not mandatory, the following skills and experiences are preferred:

• Experience with ASD closures, TAVR, valvuloplasty, and the Watchman procedure
• Knowledge of external compression devices and hypothermia protocols
• Experience in vascular access and interventions
• Proficiency in scrub procedures specific to cardiac and vascular settings

Unit Systems

Familiarity with the following systems is advantageous:

• Pyxis
• MAC LAB
• CUPID
• EPIC
• SBAR for communication

Orientation and Training

New hires will undergo a 24-hour orientation program to ensure a smooth transition into their role.
