Since 1980, SERA has offered the most advanced surgical, injection and medical approaches to patients with all types of retinal conditions, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, macular diseases, retinal vascular diseases, ocular tumors, and ocular trauma. Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in providing exceptional patient care and support within our ophthalmology practice. Travel around the Tri-Cities area is required . This is an entry level position with potential for growth for competent, hard-working individuals. Travel Schedule: Roughly 3-4 days: Kingsport and Johnson City Roughly 1-2 Days (Out of town clinics): Abingdon, VA and Bristol, VA - *Mileage reimbursement and drive time provided* Responsibilities * Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures by preparing necessary instruments and equipment. * Perform preliminary tests such as measuring visual acuity, taking vital signs, and conducting basic eye exams. * Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure confidentiality of patient information. * Educate patients on eye health, treatment options, and post-operative care instructions. * Travel to assist at satellite clinics * Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the examination rooms and waiting areas. Qualifications * Knowledge of anatomy related to the eye and vision is preferred. * Familiarity with medical terminology and experience in a healthcare setting preferred. * Understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality. * Reliable transportation and ability to commute/travel to all locations. * Proficiency in using electronic health record systems is preferred. * Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and customer service. * Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
