About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU/Med Surg/Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Oncology PCU and Med Surg experience preferred Description: This position requires passing a skills exam during orientation. Artificial nails are prohibited in departments providing patient care. The nurse will care for patients with oncology and trauma diagnoses. A minimum of one year of PCU or Oncology experience is required. RNs will occasionally titrate drips, including insulin and cardizem. Common titratable drips include chemotherapy, heparin, and cardizem. Teamwork is essential for success in this role. The nursing staff will encounter diverse patient backgrounds and beliefs. The objective is to treat all patients with respect and compassion. The RN will participate in patient rounding for experience enhancement. This position will require floating to other units within the same level of care. Support staff available includes nursing assistants, case managers, and dieticians. Candidates should be prepared to monitor patients and various medical equipment. Hourly patient ratios will typically range from 1:4 in PCU to 1:5 in Med Surg. Weekend work is required every other weekend. This position allows for self-scheduling within the unit.
