Location: Pickens County Health Department, Jasper, Georgia Job Responsibilities Under supervision, provide professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures within, but not limited to, areas of family planning, women’s health, children’s health, infectious disease, immunizations, STD’s, and TB at the Pickens County Health Department. Participate in community events and provide evidence‑based education on various health promotion topics. Act as an expanded role nurse providing patient care consistent with the patient’s level of need. Focus on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability. Promote and maintain the health of the population served. Serve as a patient advocate and refer patients to community partners or private physicians when indicated. Utilize an electronic medical record program to accurately document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement. Administer and dispense medications and vaccines based on nursing assessments and established nurse protocol in accordance with family planning and immunization protocols. Provide education to clients, families, and community partners. Incorporate strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds (e.g., cultural, socioeconomic, education, race, gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, professional, religious affiliation, mental, and physical capabilities). Prepare to respond to public health emergencies as directed. Use individual, team, and organizational learning opportunities for personal and professional development. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university. Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire. Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license. CPR certification. No experience required. Preferred Qualifications Public health experience in a health department setting.
