Staff Nurse (RN) – Hematology/Oncology Pediatric Unit (Comer 6 North) UChicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital located in Hyde Park is a state‑of‑the‑art 172‑bed hospital dedicated to caring for infants, children, teens and young adults. Offering a range of services from general care to groundbreaking treatments for the most complex medical conditions, Comer Children’s is home to the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center on Chicago’s South Side. Comer 6 North holds fourteen licensed beds for hematology, oncology, stem cell transplant/immunosuppressed patients, minor procedures room, palliative care suite, play area, family kitchen and conference room. Responsibilities A Staff Nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages patient‑centered care. The nurse assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care provided. The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under his or her supervision. Required Qualifications Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing. Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN degree or higher preferred. Associate Degree nurses must enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire, make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement toward a BSN degree from an accredited program. Current Illinois RN license. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association. Preferred Qualifications Pediatric RN experience. Hematology/Oncology experience. Position Details Full‑time (0.9 FTE). Night shift, 7 p.m.–7 a.m., with every other weekend requirement. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. It is based on a full‑time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed annually. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to collective bargaining agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
