About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have 2 years of experience as a Telemetry nurse. Must have cardiac drip experience. Must have NIH stroke assessment experience. Must have post catheterization recovery experience. Must have chest tube experience. Description: Department: Telemetry Unit Number of Beds: 27 beds, expanding to 37 beds in June. Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:4. Common diagnoses include CHF, NSTEMI, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, diabetes, CAD, renal failure, respiratory failure, pneumothorax, and post-cath lab patients. RNs will not pull sheaths but experience with TR bands and Fem stops is preferred. RNs are not required to titrate drips. Common titratable medications include set rate diltiazem and amiodarone. No emergency medications such as epinephrine or nitroglycerin are administered on this floor. Telemetry/Monitor Techs are currently on the floor until June, after which they will be centralized off-site. RNs are required to read and document telemetry every 6 hours. Currently using SpaceLab monitors, with a transition to new equipment planned. Charge Nurse and House Supervisor roles are available; they do not take patient assignments. Nurse Aide to Patient Ratios: 1:8 or 1:9. Respiratory Therapy will manage equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow. Shifts and Scheduling: 0700-1930 and 1900-0730. Efforts will be made to accommodate travelers' scheduling requests, while prioritizing unit needs. Trade options with peers are allowed. Weekend and holiday coverage is required. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating may occur to similar units or Med/Surg; floating to ICU is possible if experienced. Scrub color: Any clean, well-kept, professional attire is acceptable. Department specific orientation includes system onboarding followed by two orientation shifts.
