Project Finance Analyst

Project Finance US - Canada Summary of Responsibilities The Analyst will be part of the team responsible for origination, structuring, and execution of Project Finance deals in BBVA New York. In this junior level position the analyst will concentrate on tasks such as preparing presentations, monitoring internal pipelines, documenting executed deals, and running financial models of awarded transactions. Major/Essential Job Duties Helping more senior members of the team in underwriting, due diligence, and financial analysis of project finance opportunities in infrastructure and energy. Maintenance and assistance with internal apps for both product and credit. Preparation of market material for client pitches. Preparation of Information Memos and Lender Presentations for lead role opportunities and coordination of bank meetings. Helping more senior members of the team in management of the diligence process from a technical and legal standpoint and overseeing the structuring process through deal closing. Portfolio management and information reporting on in‑process transactions and closed deals, including interaction with finance on fee recognition. Level of Complexity and Risk Involved Despite its junior position the role includes moderately complex responsibilities inherent to project finance. The analyst is expected to quickly develop a strong understanding of underwriting and risk analysis, coordinating and interacting with other client and product groups within the bank. Scope of Duties Interaction with the Madrid team. Maintenance of internal reports and their distribution to the appropriate areas. Understanding and development of financial modeling, financial statement analysis, and derivative instruments. Client meeting participation when practical. Preparation and monitoring of the loan closing process. Identification and use of research and tools. Participation in due diligence and legal meetings. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities / Competencies Degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, or related field. 1+ years of experience working in corporate and/or investment banking related to Project Finance and/or experience in construction and energy firms related to project finance. Formal credit training a strong plus. Fluent in English; preference for Spanish fluency. Communication and presentation skills. Ability to work in a team environment and under tight deadlines. Understanding of financial statement analysis, financial modeling, and DCF analysis. Proficient in all Microsoft Office Tools. Strong Excel and PowerPoint necessary; Bloomberg a plus. With respect to this position in our New York office, the expected base salary ranges from $100,000 to $110,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
