Job Summary The Information Systems Security Officer is responsible for the operational aspects of information security, including monitoring systems for vulnerabilities and responding to security incidents. This position also involves providing technical support and guidance to researchers and staff on information security best practices. Responsibilities Monitor information systems and network activities to detect and respond to security breaches and vulnerabilities. Collaborate with the information technology team to apply security patches and updates to systems and applications. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Assist in the development and implementation of information security policies and procedures to safeguard research data. Conduct regular security assessments and audits to evaluate the effectiveness of existing security measures. Provide technical support and guidance to staff regarding information security practices and incident reporting. Investigate security incidents and document findings to inform improvements to security policies and practices. Train employees on information security awareness and best practices to minimize risks associated with human error. Maintain logs and records of security incidents and responses to ensure accountability and facilitate future analysis. Research and recommend new security tools and technologies to enhance the organization's information security posture. Required Qualifications Associate's Degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two or more years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in related discipline. Active TS/SCI security clearance with experience working with SAPs. Technical knowledge across multiple domains, with a working understanding of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), Joint Special Access Program Implementation Guide (JSIG), NIST 800-series publications, & Risk Management Framework (RMF). Experience collaborating with Department of War (DOW) components and other government agencies. Proficiency in documenting and implementing RMF security controls, developing network documentation, and applying fundamental networking concepts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels. Experience using XACTA, ServiceNow, and other government-provided systems and networks. Meets IAT Level II and IAM Level I requirements with Security+, CISSP or equivalent certification. This position is located in Atlanta, GA Salary Job Grade T05 Salary range is dependent on candidates experiences and skills that ranges from $78,023.00 - $113,625.00. Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.
