Senior UX Designer

The Senior UX Designer is responsible for creating effective, user-friendly, and visually appealing interfaces across various digital platforms. This role involves designing the overall product functionality to ensure an exceptional user experience, conducting user research, and iterating designs based on testing and feedback. The designer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver intuitive and accessible digital products optimized for a wide range of devices. Responsibilities:

• Create user interfaces for digital displays, publications, media, and other creative materials.
• Design and iterate product functionality to ensure a great user experience based on user testing.
• Conduct user research including interviews, surveys, diary studies, usability testing, A/B testing, and card sorting.
• Translate research findings into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
• Facilitate design ideation sessions and deliver comprehensive design deliverables such as service design blueprints and interactive prototypes.
• Collaborate closely with developers, QA specialists, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
• Manage end-to-end user research from recruiting participants to synthesizing results.
• Identify design problems and devise elegant, strategic solutions related to core and new product features.
• Gather and incorporate user feedback to refine existing interfaces.
• Work within an agile, sprint-based development environment, understanding iterative product development cycles.

• Proven experience as a UX designer, interactive designer, or UI designer for web and mobile applications.
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Canvas.
• Ability to define and lead UX projects, workshops, and alignment sessions with stakeholders.
• Strong skills in facilitating user experience research using various methods (user interviews, usability testing, A/B testing, etc.).
• Experience designing accessible interfaces meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
• Thorough understanding of web development technologies and their limitations.
• Experience designing with emotional aspects of human experience in mind.
• Excellent communication skills for preparing clear documentation and conveying design concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Track record of managing competing priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintaining client relationships.
• Experience working with design systems, preferably Ontario Design System.

• Knowledge of accessibility testing and digital service standards.
• Experience handling complex design challenges, including legacy systems and nuanced stakeholder approval processes.
• Prior experience in public service or Ontario Public Service (OPS) environments.
• Familiarity with service design blueprints, information architecture, and affinity mapping.

• Must be available for 5 days onsite as required.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment across different organizational levels.

• Work schedule aligns with agile, sprint-based development cycles.
• Standard business hours with potential requirements for onsite presence during project phases.
