Job Details Specialty: Pediatrics OR – Operating Room Discipline: RN Start Date: 06/01/2026 Duration: 13 weeks Hours per week: 40 Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Required Qualifications At least one year of recent experience as a Pediatric Operating Room RN Valid RN license in compliance with Washington State regulations Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC) Current PALS or ENPC certifications Preferred Qualifications ACLS certification CNOR (Operating Room Nursing) certification Other certifications or licenses as required by the position Summary The Pediatric Operating Room Registered Nurse delivers comprehensive patient care throughout the perioperative process, ensuring safety and comfort during surgical procedures. Responsibilities include preparing the operating room, managing equipment, collaborating with the surgical team, and adhering to patient safety, infection control, and ethical standards. Essential Work Functions Prepare the operating room, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional. Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns, and ensuring safety. Maintain a sterile field throughout procedures, following infection control protocols. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide instruments, supplies, and support promptly. Monitor patient condition during surgery, document significant changes, and notify the surgeon as needed. Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper use, sterilization, and disposal. Collect, label, and transport specimens accurately. Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly. Participate in patient handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases. Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, following turnover protocols. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards. Follow hospital safety rules and procedures, including PPE usage and infection prevention measures. Perform other duties within the scope of practice as assigned. Required Essential Skills Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficient PC skills. Physical Abilities – Ability to remain in a stationary position, move about, lift 50‑100 lbs, and bend or manipulate equipment. Interpersonal Skills – Ability to work effectively with diverse personnel, maintain a positive attitude, and demonstrate professionalism. Technical/Motor Skills – Ability to perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and assist with procedures and equipment. Mental Requirements – Ability to manage frequent public interaction, meet deadlines under pressure, and work independently when required.
