Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology

Binghamton University

Job Description:

The Department of Psychology at Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Clinical Science Ph.D. Program, with a research focus on schizophrenia and other severe mental illnesses (SMI). Our program holds dual accreditation from PCSAS and the APA Commission on Accreditation and is a member of the Academy of Psychological Clinical Science. We seek a clinical scientist whose research advances mechanistic understanding of psychotic and SMI, including etiology, assessment development, and intervention research. The Department values scholarship that bridges scientific rigor with community impact.

The Psychology Department consists of 48 faculty members in three doctoral programs (Behavioral Neuroscience, Clinical Science, and Cognitive and Brain Sciences), as well as eight teaching faculty offering additional expertise in developmental, school, forensic, and social psychology. We recognize that excellence is often informed by varied life experiences. We therefore welcome applicants with non-traditional career trajectories or significant professional experience outside of academia. The Department prizes collegiality at all ranks, is family-friendly, and there is a pre-school on campus. Additional information about the Department is available at
