Specific remote work arrangements vary by business area and should be discussed with the leader during the phone screen or interview process.What You’ll Do:Manage the defense of customer, consumer, and public lawsuits from within the company.Oversee a wide range of liability matters including premises, fleet, pharmacy, and product claims.Develop and refine internal litigation processes and policies for attorney-represented and litigated claims.Provide strategic legal counsel to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.Oversee legal cost management and collaborate with outside counsel as needed.Monitor legal trends and regulatory changes impacting our operations.Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents and contracts.Mentor legal team members and contribute to a culture of excellence.Required QualificationsJuris Doctor and active BAR admission in any U.S. state.5+ years of litigation experience in tort and personal injury defense, including trial experience (lead or second chair), OR3 years in litigation + 2 years managing litigation for a corporate liability function, insurance carrier, or TPA.Valid driver’s license.Preferred QualificationsJD plus a degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or related field.5–7 years of experience managing tort claims in a corporate legal or insurance setting.In-house experience—preferably in a retail, healthcare, or consumer-facing company.Familiarity with risk management, claims adjusting, and insurance financials.Experience with legal fee control, outside counsel management, and alternative fee arrangements.Background in insurance coverage, indemnification, product liability, and pharmacy or medical litigation.Florida Bar admission and bar admission in other Publix-operating states.ARM or Certified Claims Representative designation.Hours of Work45 hours/week; 1 remote work dayWork EnvironmentHybridFrequency of PayMonthly Minimum Base Pay12,990Maximum Base Pay19,500Potential Annual Pay with Bonus168,870 - 253,500Year End BonusAs a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year.
