Position Overview

At Absaroka Senior Living, our Cooks play an important role in creating a warm, welcoming dining experience for our residents. This position is responsible for preparing nutritious and delicious meals, serving food, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal health department regulations.

Our Cook helps create a positive, comfortable, and socially engaging atmosphere where residents feel at home. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with seniors, takes pride in preparing quality meals, and believes that kindness and a smile can make someone's day.

This position requires the ability to work weekends , with additional weekday hours available , offering flexibility for those looking for a consistent schedule.

Essential Job Functions

Food Preparation Functions 

• Ensure food is prepared according in a nutritional, appetizing fashion, and presented in an attractive manner.

• Ensure all utensils, dishes and equipment and work areas are cleaned properly and in a timely manner. 

• Store food properly

• Professional and welcoming attitude

Resident Rights

• Ensure compliance and understanding of all regulations regarding residents’ rights 

Training

• Attend all required once a month in-service training

• Obtain Food Handlers Permit (required, paid for by ASL) 

• Other trainings available; CPR and BLS (required, paid for by ASL)

• Healthcare Academy training (required, paid for by ASL)

Other 

• Follow and communicate company policy and procedures

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Trained in culinary arts or have equivalent experience in the culinary arts, preferred, but not required

• Must be capable of maintaining regular, reliable attendance 

• Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, vendors, and the public 

• Must meet all health requirements

• Must pass criminal background check 

• Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly

• This position is hourly

• This is a WEEKEND position with options to work during the week
