This role is for someone who can lead from the floor, not from the sidelines. You’ll help guide the crew, keep the shop clean, make sure the food is right, communicate clearly, and jump in wherever the team needs you. Some shifts will be easy. Some shifts will be short-staffed, busy, weird, loud, and messy. We need someone who can stay aware, call audibles, and keep the crew moving in the right direction. At our shop, we prioritize people over profits and integrity over skillset. Skill matters, but character matters more. We can train systems. We can train checklists. We can train ticket times. We cannot train someone to care, tell the truth, treat people right, and take pride in the shift. If you can be the thermostat, not the thermometer, meaning you help set the tone instead of just reacting to it, this might be your spot. What You’ll Do Lead the crew during scheduled shifts Help create a positive, motivating, and respectful work environment Uphold Cheba Hut’s “Big 4”: atmosphere, cleanliness, interaction, and product quality Keep your head on a swivel and maintain awareness of the whole shop Help make sure food is made correctly, safely, and to Cheba Hut standards Coach crew members in the moment with respect and consistency Hold people accountable without playing favorites Work shoulder-to-shoulder with the team during busy or stressful shifts Help manage labor, productivity, and shift flow Write prep lists and stock lists based on shop needs Complete line checks, food safety checks, waste logs, and shift checklists Maintain FIFO, product rotation, and food safety standards Communicate important shift notes and team feedback to shop leadership Help protect the customer experience from the lobby to the line Call audibles when the shift needs a different plan Keep service areas, tables, line, bar, bathrooms, and BOH clean and ready Support the GM and Assistant GM with shop operations What We’re Looking For Has integrity and self-direction Leads by example instead of just giving orders Can stay calm when the shop gets busy Understands that leadership means serving the team, not acting above the team Communicates clearly in both good and difficult moments Can coach without being disrespectful Can hold a standard without killing the vibe Treats every crew member fairly, no favorites Takes food safety and cleanliness seriously Is comfortable working in a cannabis-themed restaurant culture Is willing to solve problems and see things through Can prioritize when multiple things need attention at the same time Has strong awareness of guests, crew, product, cleanliness, and timing Is willing to do dishes, trash, cleaning, prep, line work, and whatever else the shift needs Experience and Requirements Previous restaurant, hospitality, or leadership experience preferred Food safety certification required or ability to obtain required certification Must be able to work nights, weekends, and variable shifts Must be able to stand for long periods Must be able to lift up to 47 lbs Must be able to work in mentally and physically stressful situations Must be able to work around meat, cheese, breads, sauces, vegetables, and other food products Overtime may be required What Makes a Great Shift Leader Here A great Shift Leader at Cheba Hut is not just the person with keys.
