THE POSITION

The Maintenance Repairman 2 position with the Department of Human Services, Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services , offers a hands-on role that keeps the Loysville Youth Development Center running smoothly. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the upkeep and long-term maintenance of buildings and grounds across the youth development center system. The work involves skilled tasks in multiple trades and contributes to a safe and well-maintained environment. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

• Trade Skills: Perform carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, masonry, and related repair tasks
• Equipment Use: Operate and maintain tools, machinery, and vehicles needed for daily work
• Building Maintenance: Repair fixtures, install materials, maintain systems, and support facility upkeep
• Grounds Care: Complete lawn care, snow removal, and other outdoor maintenance duties
• Safety Compliance: Follow regulations, maintain tool accountability, and report missing items immediately

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• This position is considered essential during weather and other emergency events.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
  

Special Requirement:

• You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
