CAH-Patient Accounting– Billing Clerk – Full Time- Day Shift- 8a-4p-Req 9771Pay Range-Uncertified: $22.97-$29.57*Certified: $24.30-$32.43*A Billing Clerk is responsible for performing all functions required in preparing third-party claim forms for submission, both electronically and by paper. Familiar with basic claim submission rules and forms. Perform all necessary follow up procedures to obtain proper payment from third parties. Answer all inquiries pertaining to billing functions. Provides general assistance and support to business office, including complete patient account representation in compliance with state and federal regulations.REPORTS TO:Billing Office ManagerEDUCATION:Required:High School diploma/GEDMinimum two years patient account experiencePreferred:Hospital/Medical office experience (desired)Medical Billing Certification through an accredited organizationLICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:Preferred:AMBA (American Medical Billing Association) CMRS (Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist) HFMA (Healthcare Financial Management Association) CRCR (Certified Revenue Cycle Representative)TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:Required:Problem solving skillsKnowledge of medical terminologyAbility to read EOB's (explanation of benefits)Knowledge of CPT and ICD10 codingSkill in basic data entry; 10-key proficiencySkill in using a computerAbility to exhibit cooperation, flexibility, and provide assistance when interfacing with patients, physician and staffAbility to multi-taskSkill in organizing and reporting information that is accurate and completeKnowledge of basic math skillsUnderstanding and respecting the need for confidentialityAbility to maintain composure in stressful situationsSkill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all staffAbility to prepare records in accordance with detailed instructionsAbility to sit for long periods of timeAbility to communicate effectively in person and on the phoneConsistency and timeliness in attendance*The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants.
