Forklift Operator

Job Summary We are seeking askilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our steeloperations team. The Forklift Operator is responsible for safe loading,unloading, and moving steel products—such as beams, plate, coil, pipe, andfabricated parts—within the yard, warehouse, or production area. This rolerequires experience handling heavy and irregular loads, as well as strictadherence to safety procedures. Key Responsibilities Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up,or specialty forklifts) to handle and transport steel materials. Load and unload steel products fromtrucks, railcars, and storage racks. Secure loads using chains, straps, orother approved methods to prevent shifting or damage. Inspect the forklift before eachshift, checking brakes, steering, lift mechanisms, and safety devices. Read and interpret work orders,shipping manifests, and inventory instructions. Stage and organize materials indesignated areas for production or shipment. Communicate with team members andspotters to ensure safe movements in tight or high-traffic areas. Maintain cleanliness and organizationin work areas to ensure safe forklift operation. Report any damage to materials,equipment, or facilities immediately to a supervisor. Follow all OSHA regulations, companysafety policies, and PPE requirements. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Proven forklift operation experience,preferably in the steel industry or other heavy industrial environments. Current forklift certification (orability to obtain upon hire). Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and workin hot, cold, and outdoor environments. Strong attention to safety andsituational awareness. Ability to read measurements,understand steel product types, and follow layout or stackingrequirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience handling long, heavy, orirregular steel loads . Ability to operate additionalequipment such as overhead cranes or side-loaders. Knowledge of yard management systemsor inventory tracking software. Safety Emphasis Steel handlingrequires extreme attention to safety .
