Events Specialist

Salary Range: $24.00/hr. Note: The hourly rate is $24/hr and is a fixed entry rate for this position, applicable to all new hires. Overview As a Community Event Specialist for Wayfair Stores, you’ll bring our brand to life through engaging, community‑focused events that drive customer traffic and local awareness. Reporting to the Senior Manager of People Operations, you’ll lead event execution from supplier demos to community gatherings while ensuring seamless logistics and staffing. Beyond events, you’ll support in‑store promotions, events, and visual merchandising to keep the store environment fresh and inviting. What Does an Event Specialist Do? Lead and deliver engaging in‑store and external community events that boost brand visibility and drive foot traffic. Coordinate setup, breakdown, staffing, and vendor needs to ensure smooth, successful events. Serve as the main contact during events, answering questions and ensuring a positive experience and impression of Wayfair. Manage distribution and tracking of promotional materials and coupons accurately. Capture and help create engaging social media content in partnership with the Marketing team. Examples or a portfolio of previous content are a plus. Work closely with leadership, store support teams, and People Operations to align event goals with business priorities. Support Wayfair’s total store goals by cross‑training across key store functions, including sales and back‑of‑house operations. Flex where needed to support customers, teammates, store needs, and peak business periods. You’ll Thrive In This Role If You Have 1–2 years of event execution, hospitality, community engagement, or customer‑facing experience. Strong organizational skills managing event logistics and leading staff from start to finish. Experience directing small teams and coordinating vendors during fast‑paced events. Excellent communication and the ability to engage new and existing customers, partners, and senior leaders with warmth and clarity. Creative problem‑solving and detail‑oriented with a passion for people, events, and exceptional customer experiences. Self‑starter attitude—independent, adaptable, and energized by fast‑moving, high‑impact environments. Expertise in mobile photography; ability to capture eye‑catching shots with a phone. Flexible availability, willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays to support event and store needs. Travel readiness; comfortable with up to 50% travel, typically within a 50‑mile radius, to support events and community engagements. Additional Physical And Environmental Requirements Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling. Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis. Some tasks may involve heavier items, managed with proper assistance or equipment. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Comfortable in varying temperature conditions. Noisy environments with occasional moderate noise exposure. Minimal exposure to workplace or environmental hazards; must adhere to all safety protocols. What are the Benefits?
