Maintenance TechnicianThe Maintenance Technician is an experienced maintenance professional responsible for independently performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and equipment improvement activities within a food manufacturing, warehouse, and refrigerated production environment. This mid-level role supports operational uptime by diagnosing and resolving mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, refrigeration, plumbing, and basic electrical issues while maintaining compliance with company safety and food safety standards.The Maintenance Technician II demonstrates independent judgment in prioritizing maintenance assignments, responding to equipment failures, and supporting operational needs. This position performs skilled maintenance work with limited supervision and serves as a developmental resource for Maintenance Technician I employees through training, guidance, and technical support.This role is expected to demonstrate increased technical proficiency, troubleshooting capability, and equipment knowledge beyond entry-level maintenance positions while continuing to develop advanced diagnostics, controls, andEssential Job Responsibilities/Functions:Independently perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and equipment adjustments on production, warehouse, refrigeration, and facility systems.Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, and basic electrical issues on manufacturing and facility equipment.Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and operational failures to minimize downtime and support production schedules.Perform repairs and maintenance on conveyors, motors, pumps, compressors, chillers, packaging equipment, plumbing systems, and facility infrastructure.Complete preventative maintenance tasks, inspections, work orders, and maintenance documentation accurately and timely.Assist with machinery installation, alignment, equipment modifications, and operational improvement projects.Support equipment reliability initiatives and identify opportunities for preventative maintenance improvements and operational efficiency.Assist with troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and automated systems under the direction of senior maintenance leadership or advanced technicians.Safely operate maintenance tools, testing equipment, forklifts, pallet jacks, scissor lifts, ladders, and other maintenance equipment following company safety procedures.Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), OSHA, GMP, food safety, and company maintenance procedures at all times.Identify and communicate recurring equipment failures, safety concerns, parts needs, or operational risks to maintenance leadership.Support maintenance inventory organization and maintenance shop cleanliness.Provide guidance, training, and day-to-day support to Maintenance Technician I employees as assigned.Demonstrate the ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in prioritizing maintenance work, resolving operational equipment issues, and supporting production continuity.Maintain regular and reliable attendance and flexibility to support operational maintenance needs, including overtime, weekends, and emergency repairs as necessary.Perform other duties as assigned.Competencies:Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.Intermediate understanding of industrial maintenance systems and preventative maintenance practices.Basic electrical troubleshooting and repair knowledge.Ability to work independently with limited supervision.Ability to prioritize maintenance tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, work orders, and technical instructions.Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.Effective communication and teamwork abilities.Ability to mentor and support less experienced maintenance employees.Commitment to workplace safety, food safety, and operational reliability.Adaptability to changing operational priorities and production schedules.Qualifications:High School diploma or GED preferred.Technical school certification, Associate degree, trade apprenticeship, or equivalent technical training preferred.Minimum of 2+ years of industrial maintenance, manufacturing, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, or related maintenance experience preferred.Demonstrated experience independently troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment required.Basic knowledge of electrical systems, PLC-controlled equipment, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, refrigeration systems, and preventative maintenance programs preferred.Journeyman license, refrigeration certification, electrical certification, or industrial maintenance certifications preferred.Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, forklifts, and maintenance machinery.Experience working in food manufacturing, refrigerated warehouse, or industrial production environments preferred.Ability to work overtime, weekends, or flexible schedules based on operational needs.Work Environment:The employee may be exposed to extreme cold environment. The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
