Crownpoint is on the Trails of the Ancients Byway, one of the designated New Mexico Scenic Byways to prehistoric archaeological and geological sites of northwestern New Mexico. It provides insight into the lives of the Ancient Puebloans, Navajos, Utes, and Apache people. Geological features include canyons, volcanic rock features, and sandstone buttes. Several of the sites are scenic and wilderness areas with recreational opportunities. In 1912, Crownpoint was founded by Samuel F. Stacher as an Indian Agency to serve the Navajo People in the Pueblo Bonito Agency of Northwestern New Mexico. A schoolhouse, agency office, and power house were first built to accommodate future planned establishments.

The Albuquerque International Sunport, known for its distinct southwestern architecture and cultural decor, is New Mexico's largest commercial airport, welcoming over 5 million passengers each year. It serves as the primary airport for the region and offers more than 250 nonstop flights daily to various destinations.

bout the Facility - Crownpoint Health Care Facility
The Crownpoint Health Care Facility serves a population of 20,000 Navajo people. The staff consists of primary care physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners at a 32-bed hospital. The daily inpatient load is nine; daily outpatient visits are 151; annual OB cases are 275; and annual ER cases number about 5,500. There is a shortage of permanent medical providers in the remote Crownpoint Service Unit currently, especially for our fast-track Emergency Room (formerly referred to as Urgent Care). These vacancies are being filled through the use of contract providers.
This contract will require services at the Emergency Room at the Crownpoint Healthcare facility, the Adult Ambulatory Care Clinic in Crownpoint, or at either satellite locations at the Thoreau Health Station or the Pueblo Pintado Health Clinic.

Family Nurse Practitioner - Duties and Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

• Shall provide a full scope of medical services to include patients of all ages.
• Will provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services (e.g., supervise general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute, and chronic conditions involving all organ systems; provide immunizations, diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).
• Shall provide medical care services for Ambulatory services in the Emergency Room setting, including providing direct care to patients of all ages with a variety of medical, surgical, pediatric, geriatric, gynecological, and health maintenance needs.
• The NP will be responsible and accountable for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patient problems, including the prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
• The scope of practice of a nurse practitioner includes, but is not limited to, each of the following:
• Ordering diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures, performing those tests and procedures when using health care equipment, and interpreting and using the results of diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures ordered by the advanced practice registered nurse or another health care professional.
• Ordering treatments, ordering, or applying appropriate medical devices, and using nursing, medical, therapeutic, and corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status.
• Providing advanced counseling, patient education, health education, and patient advocacy.
• The FNP will NOT participate in on-call for general admissions of patients, nor will they be expected to do admissions and inpatient care. Any patient under their care who needs admission will be directed to the on-call physician.

Nurse Practitioner - REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a Master's degree or Doctorate in nursing.
• Must have a current and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
• Must have certification through the AANP.
• Must have a current Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
• Must have a minimum of one year of experience in the clinical areas of primary care.
