Lead Cook

The job of Lead Cook is done for the purpose of providing support to the food service activities at assigned location with specific responsibilities for cooking food items that meet mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of Cafeteria Manager; verifying quantities and specifications of orders; maintaining facilities in a sanitary condition; and assisting assigned food service personnel in performing their functions. Bilingual preferred. This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: Full Time cook leads the food preparation and delivery process, with Part Time cooks' support. Full Time cook has responsibility for final results. This job reports to Cafeteria Manager.

Essential Functions:

• Attends meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
• Cleans kitchen for the purpose of maintaining required sanitary conditions.
• Cooks breakfast and lunch foods for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements.
• Estimates food preparation amounts for the purpose of meeting projected meal requirements and minimizing waste of food items.
• Evaluates prepared food for the purpose of presenting items that will be accepted by students and/or staff.
• Inspects food items for the purpose of meeting preparation requirements and/or complying with mandated health standards.
• Inventories food, condiments and supplies for the purpose of ensuring availability of items required for meeting projected menu requirements.
• Operates point of sale system for the purpose of securing funds for food selection, counting students, and meeting nutritional standards.
• Oversees the preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverage items for the purpose of ensuring timely delivery of food and meeting mandated nutritional and health standards.
• Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
• Records payments for food items from students for the purpose of securing funds for food selection.
• Reports equipment malfunctions for the purpose of maintaining equipment in safe working order.
• Serves required items of food for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel.
• Stocks food, condiments and supplies for the purpose of maintaining adequate quantities and security of items.

Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certificates and Licenses: Food Handlers Card. Clearances: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance Clearances: IVP (Identity Verified Print) Fingerprint Clearance Card. Working Calendar Year: 215 Days Salary: 17.00/Hr
