First-time travelers are welcome! ✨ Assignment Highlights 13- or 26-week contract Night shift: 3×12-hour shifts Patient ratio: approximately 1:5 Epic charting required — hard stop Every other weekend Floating between units as needed 36 hours of orientation Free parking No on-call requirement Thanksgiving and New Year's coverage is available; Christmas coverage is especially needed Reduced non-billable orientation: 0 hours Your Role Provide nursing care to patients with neurological, neurosurgical, and telemetry needs. Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize and manage dysrhythmias. Care for patients with CVA, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and other neurological conditions. Provide pre- and post-neurosurgical care, including craniotomy patients. Monitor patients in a designated stroke unit and neuro stepdown setting. Manage respiratory support, including BiPAP/CPAP and chest tubes. Perform neurological assessments and use the NIH Stroke Scale proficiently. Administer and monitor procedural sedation as required. Maintain accurate patient records using Epic. ✅ Required Qualifications Active RN license appropriate for the assignment. Minimum 1 year of RN experience. At least 6 months of neurological nursing experience for this specific night-shift requirement. Epic experience is mandatory. Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. Experience with telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and neurological patient care. Willingness to float between units as needed. Availability to work every other weekend. ⭐ Preferred Qualifications Strong Neuro Telemetry or Neuro Stepdown experience. Experience caring for stroke, neurosurgical, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury patients. Experience with chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, and procedural sedation. Familiarity with NIH Stroke Scale assessments and a variety of neurological diagnoses. About the Facility Short-term acute care hospital Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center Teaching hospital 629 staffed beds Designated stroke unit with thrombectomy-capable designation Spine Center of Excellence Level 3 Epilepsy Center Important Contract Requirements Neuro experience of at least 6 months is required for this specific night-shift opening. Every other weekend is required. Block scheduling is not available. Christmas coverage is a priority; discuss holiday availability before submission.
