Civil Construction Engineer (will consider Junior level through PE)

Our client, located in Rio Rancho, NM, is currently seeking a dynamic individual who is meticulous and highly organized. They develop subdivision lots, commercial build-to-suits and redevelopment projects and operate a homebuilding and landscaping company. The ideal candidate should be familiar with the construction industry trades and functions as well as land development acquisition, design and construction feasibility. As an Engineer you should possess the ability to produce layouts for subdivisions, create individual lot grading and drainage plans and perform planning and project implementation within budget, timeline, and scope as well as effectively monitor projects. Will report to the Vice President of Land Development, working closely with the land development team. The primary functions of this position are outlined below, and responsibilities will be refined as you adapt to the company’s culture and business needs. Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced office environment and work both independently and as part of a team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in due diligence for land acquisition including feasibility studies, cost estimates and scheduling.
• Design subdivision layouts to determine lot yields to be used in feasibility studies.
• Prepare grading and drainage plans.
• Review construction plan sets for completeness and value engineering.
• Help prepare applications to obtain necessary government approvals prior to start of construction/building permitting.
• Obtain Geotechnical Investigation reports, Phase 1 & Phase 2 Environmental reports and permits necessary to evaluate and develop land parcels.
• Monitor project deliverables and provide project updates and reports to management.
• Monitor field projects as necessary to ensure projects remain on schedule and are constructed per design.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

• BS in Civil Engineering with minimum of 2 years’ experience
• Construction experience is a plus
• Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills
• Proficient in AutoCAD & Microsoft products
• Have knowledge of the Entitlement Process of Albuquerque Metro and Rio Rancho
• Proactive with the ability to work independently.

Job Specifics:  

• Full-time, 40 hours per week in Rio Rancho office – In office and in the field as needed.
