Job Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description
As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and conducting repairs on buildings and equipment. You will operate machine tools to fabricate and manufacture machine parts, working under the close direction of senior personnel.
Responsibilities- Operate fabrication machinery to produce parts used in manufacturing processes.
- Operate a manual mill and lathe.
- Read and interpret blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and specifications for parts.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials for machines.
- Examine and measure completed units and parts for defects and ensure conformity with specifications.
- Inspect machinery for repairs and perform minor repairs within expertise.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of work area.
- Comply with applicable safety standards and regulations, including lockout-tagout procedures.
- Work on various mechanical systems using correct tools and PPE, including packaging conveyor systems, chain drives, gear boxes, and more.
- Utilize handheld and diagnostic devices for troubleshooting.
- Handle pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including high-pressure compressed air distribution systems and hydraulic cylinders and pumps.
- Use troubleshooting skills with Multimeters and Clamp on Amp Meters.
- Understand NFPA 70E, Arc Flash, PPE requirements, and OSHA requirements including LOTO.
- Perform basic welding including MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
- Work at heights and operate scissor lifts, forklifts, and boom lifts.
- Assess equipment failures, determine root causes, and make effective repairs under pressure.
- Prioritize jobs and make critical decisions, showing an interest in learning new equipment and being a self-starter.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Hydraulics, mechanical, and pneumatics knowledge.
- Preventive maintenance expertise.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Effective communication in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
- Electrical and welding skills.
- Experience in using lockout-tagout procedures and blueprint reading.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Some technical coursework with 1-3 years of Electronics Technology or Industrial Technology experience preferred.
- Vocational/technical school training and apprenticeship required.
- Positive and progressive PLC experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels of employees and management.
- Ability to use technology to solve business problems.

Work EnvironmentThe work environment regularly involves working near moving mechanical parts and may include exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and wet or humid conditions. You may be exposed to noise and varying temperatures. There is a need to respond quickly to sounds, move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces, see and respond in potentially hazardous situations, and climb ladders safely while carrying up to 40 pounds. Personal protective gear is required and must be worn correctly while working.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Salt Lake, UT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.72/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
