The Role:

You own organic growth. Rankings, AI citations, traffic, and the leads that come from them are your number. You set the strategy, defend it with reasoning, and then go execute it. This is a hands-on role at every stage of the work.

That means the analysis and the writing are the same job, not two. You'll find the opportunity in Search Console and your SEO platform, decide which queries are winnable, fix whatever on the site is holding us back, then write the guide, the comparison page, or the long-form post that goes after it — and go back and improve it when the data says to.

Beyond organic, you're a partner to the wider GTM team. When a campaign needs a landing page that ranks, when sales needs a page that answers a real objection, you're the one who shapes it.

You'll work alongside the Vice President of Marketing as a thought partner. Expect to disagree, expect to be listened to, and expect to be the one who decides what happens on the organic side.

What You'll Own:

Analysis and strategy

• Keyword and topic research, search intent mapping, competitive and content gap analysis. You decide where we compete and where we don't.
• Site architecture and internal linking — how the site is organized around the topics we intend to own.
• Rankings, impressions, clicks, conversions, and pipeline contribution. Double down on what works, kill what doesn't, and report clearly on both.

Technical SEO

• Crawlability, indexation, site speed and Core Web Vitals, structured data and schema, redirects and migrations, log-file and crawl diagnostics.
• You find the problems, scope the fixes, and work with our developers to get them shipped. You can make the hands-on changes yourself where the CMS allows.

Content and AEO

• Long-form writing — problem-led, outcome-driven posts, guides, reports, and comparison pages that rank, build credibility, and get read to the end. You are the primary writer, not the person who assigns the writing.
• The publishing plan: what we publish, for which queries and intents, in what order, and at what cadence. Driven by the search opportunity, not by whoever asked loudest.
• On-page optimization and refreshes to existing pages. A large share of early wins will come from improving what we already have.
• AEO — getting MOD cited in Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and other answer engines. Understanding how they select sources and building pages that get picked.

Authority

• Digital PR, earned links, citations, and partnerships that build the domain strength rankings depend on.

How You'll Work:

• Report directly to the Vice President of Marketing, with a short line to decisions and real say in the plan. You're a thought partner, not a request queue.
• Direct our graphic designer and video producer on organic-supporting assets. You set the brief, they build with you.
• Partner with our developers on technical fixes. You diagnose and prioritize, and you can explain the "why" well enough to get it built.
• Don't wait for information or direction. Bring recommendations and get alignment. You'll get context and goals rather than orders.
• Set the priorities. When GTM requests stack up, you decide what gets built now, what waits, and what doesn't happen.
• Build systems and use AI to research, draft, and repurpose faster, then apply your judgment and voice.

What You'll Bring:

• 5+ years in SEO, ideally B2B or services, including time owning a site or program end to end rather than executing someone else's brief.
• A track record in organic growth — you've grown search traffic and can walk us through the specific work that did it and the results it produced.
• Proven writing ability. You've written the content that ranked, not just briefed it. Samples required, and we'll read them closely.
• Deep technical SEO capability — crawl and indexation issues, site architecture, page experience, schema, migrations. Enough to diagnose a problem yourself instead of waiting on an agency.
• Strong keyword research and intent analysis, with the judgment to tell a winnable query from a vanity one.
• AEO fluency, or the demonstrated curiosity to become the person we rely on for it. You understand how AI answer engines pick sources, or you're hungry to find out.
• Comfort with the tools — GA4, Search Console, and an SEO platform like Ahrefs or Semrush, plus a crawler such as Screaming Frog. You find answers yourself.
• Working familiarity with a CMS (WordPress or similar) — enough to publish, structure, and optimize pages without needing a developer for routine work.
• Strategic instinct — you can look at a business, say what it needs to win organically, and defend the choice under pushback.
• Hands-on AI experience and genuine enthusiasm to learn more. You see it as leverage.
• Self-direction — you prioritize, plan, and ship at a high standard without being micro-managed.
• A degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field.
