About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Telemetry Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience required. License: Active RN license required. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required. Must-Have: Previous Telemetry experience, must pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival. Description: The unit consists of 21 beds. The patient types include Med Surg, Ortho, Neuro, and Telemetry. Surgeries performed include ORIF, total joints (hips, knees, shoulders), and spinal/neck surgeries (laminectomies, fusion, discectomy). Additionally, patients may require hemodialysis and evaluation for chest pain. Adequate PPE will be provided. The patient-to-RN ratio is 1:5-6 for both day and night shifts. Two CNAs are available per shift. The charge nurse may or may not have a patient assignment. Phlebotomy will only perform peripheral blood draws. IV/VAT Team is available on days only. A hospitalist is available on call 24/7. Wound care services are provided. There is centralized telemetry support with tele tech assistance. The charting system used is Meditech Expanse. IV pumps are Alaris, and medication dispensing is via Pyxis. Travelers may float to like units. Scheduling includes a weekend rotation of every other weekend. Staff will work 4 days one week and 3 days the next, which is mandatory. Time off requests are limited to 7 days, and additional requests must extend the contract duration. Only one weekend of requested time off is permitted per 13-week contract. No call duties are required. Holiday expectations include working 2 out of 3 holidays. Team culture is oriented towards collaboration, with an open-door policy encouraged. Scrub color is pewter, and t-shirts must be gray, white, or black. Jackets must be gray or black, and badges must be worn visibly above the waist at all times.
