Set Up/Mold Technician – 1st Shift Hoffer Plastics is hiring for the role of Set Up/Mold Technician on the first shift (08:00am‑04:00pm). The position requires molding parts in accordance with internal and external customer requirements, including machine set‑up, auxiliary equipment set‑up, and process parameter input. The role also maintains a neat and orderly work area in accordance with 5S standards and adheres to safety policies. Start Pay Starting Pay $22.00 – $30.00 (based on experience). Key Responsibilities Responsibilities vary by skill level. Level C Complete B level training curriculum. Perform mold set‑up and color changes to meet production demands. Set molding process parameters with assistance of a foreman, supervisor, A or B level molding technician. Monitor production for accuracy and efficiency and work with quality inspectors to identify defects. Perform material handler duties as assigned. Level B Complete A level training curriculum. Set molding process parameters to ensure part quality. Troubleshoot process, machine, and auxiliary equipment problems and make necessary changes to ensure quality and reduce downtime. Learn new technology as it is introduced. Work with Supervisor and/or Lead Molding Technician to identify ways to improve productivity and reduce scrap, defects, etc. Level A Work with quality inspectors to identify defects and make sound decisions on process changes. Ability to sample new and existing molds. Keep current with new technology in molding, auxiliary equipment, robots, etc. Promote safety by abiding by all related policies and procedures and setting a good example for others. Help maintain 5S and cleanliness in the plant by performing assigned cleaning tasks and setting a good example for others. Assume responsibilities of supervisor or foreman in their absence. Physical Requirements Usually stand/walk most of the shift. Frequently bend at waist, twist, kneel/crouch, climb ladders and climb up on machinery with proper fall protection. Occasionally push, pull and lift up to 75lbs or more. Occasionally lift above waist or shoulder up to 75lbs or more. Sometimes perform hand, wrist, finger movements and foot movements for pedal controls on forklift. Occasionally perform keyboarding and squeezing movements. Frequently exposed to odors, dust and oil/grease. Qualifications Minimum education: High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate. Must be able and interested in successfully progressing through leveled molding technician training curriculum. Strong mechanical aptitude and math proficiency. Proficient in reading/writing English.
