A metal polisher operates hand tools and machinery to grind, deburr, buff, and smooth metal surfaces to meet exact quality and finish standards. Common duties include selecting appropriate abrasives, removing surface defects, and inspecting finished parts.
Key Responsibilities
- Operation: Use pneumatic or electric handheld polishers, belt sanders, and buffing wheels on metals like stainless steel, aluminum, and brass.
- Surface Preparation: Grind welds, blend contours, and remove burrs, scratches, or oxidation without altering critical part dimensions.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished workpieces visually and with measuring tools to ensure they match blueprints or customer specifications.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Experience: 1 to 3+ years of manufacturing or metal finishing experience.
