Lead Ultrasound Technologist - Step Up and Run the Room

Providence, RI

You’re not just an Ultrasound Tech—you’re the person others turn to when the case is complex, the scan is urgent, and the team needs direction.

In this Lead role, you’ll work closely with the Operations Manager of Radiology, radiologists, and a tight-knit group of techs to supervise and perform a full range of ultrasound procedures—routine, portable, urgent, and invasive.

You’ll set the tone for quality, safety, and patient care in a busy department where your leadership is felt every day.

You’ll be the go-to leader for daily operations in Ultrasound, owning the flow and the standards of care across:

• Routine ultrasound procedures
• Portable ultrasound exams
• Urgent and stat ultrasound cases
• Invasive ultrasound procedures
• Day-to-day workflow within the Ultrasound Department
• Collaboration with Radiology Operations Management
• Coordination with radiologists and clinical staff

• Supervising day-to-day activities within the Ultrasound Department
• Performing technical ultrasound procedures across routine, portable, urgent, and invasive studies
• Working directly with the Operations Manager of Radiology on department operations
• Collaborating closely with radiologists to support accurate, timely imaging
• Overseeing workflow to keep exams moving efficiently and safely
• Serving as a resource and example for other ultrasound technologists
• Ensuring procedures are conducted courteously, efficiently, and ethically
• Communicating clearly with medical and technical personnel, both verbally and in writing
• Positioning patients and equipment safely to obtain high-quality images
• Maintaining concentration on fine detail during extended procedures

• Completion of an Ultrasound Training Program
• Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or ARRT
• ARDMS board eligible status
• At least 5 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
• Preferred prior supervisory or leadership experience, or clearly demonstrated leadership skills
• Ability to interact courteously, efficiently, and ethically with all hospital personnel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to perform complex manipulative skills and maintain strong hand-eye coordination
• Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods and safely assist with lifting and positioning patients

You’ve spent years in Ultrasound and have become the informal “lead” on your shift—answering questions, handling the toughest cases, and keeping things moving when it gets busy. You’re comfortable juggling patient care, technical precision, and communication with radiologists and nurses.

You’ll work first shift in a full-time schedule, directly plugged into Operations and Radiology leadership, with the opportunity to shape standards and support your fellow technologists.

Full-time regular position (64–80 hours), 1st shift, 7:30am–4:00pm

Completion of an Ultrasound Training Program required

Certification by ARDMS or ARRT and ARDMS board eligibility required

Minimum 5 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist required
