Chair in Artificial Intelligence

The client seeks a creative, interdisciplinary scholar to serve as a Chair in Artificial Intelligence within the client’s School of Science and Engineering, Department of Computer Science. The role is designed to help position the client as a respected leader in AI by leveraging institutional momentum and existing strengths to advance world-class, interdisciplinary scholarship in computing, research, education, and real-world application. The Chair will help build an ecosystem that supports cross-disciplinary AI research, training, and impact across campus. Success in the role will involve bringing together AI scholars and researchers, shaping and communicating a shared vision for AI, mentoring faculty and students, and serving as a catalyst for a high-impact research agenda. The position is expected to contribute to the department’s strategic direction, support externally funded research efforts, strengthen the university’s reputation, and help attract partnerships with industry. Candidates are expected to have a superlative scholarly record with significant achievement and impact, with academic qualifications commensurate with a tenure-track appointment. The Chair is expected to maintain an active externally funded research program and contribute to the educational training and teaching mission, and to provide leadership that advances new frontiers in artificial intelligence and computing.
