The impact you will have

This is not a role where you just code and deliver. As a senior RPG analyst-programmer, you will lead the analysis, design, development, and maintenance of essential IBM i applications for our clients, designing solutions that allow them to balance the reliability of legacy systems with the efficiency of modern technologies. You will work autonomously while collaborating with a committed team, supporting clients in solving real challenges related to their business applications systems and seeing the concrete impact of your decisions.

What you will do

• Advise and collaborate. Work in partnership with clients to solve application problems, understand their business needs, and deliver solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Design and develop. Analyze, design, program, and test applications using all versions of RPG and SQL.
• Ensure quality. Maintain the integrity of applications through unit tests, integration tests, validation ("smoke tests"), and other testing phases.
• Document and communicate. Translate system architecture into clear and accessible documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Lead. Mentor a small technical team as needed and perform code reviews for database and application logic changes.
• Modernize. Help clients transform their legacy applications into modern, scalable ILE solutions.

What you bring

• In-depth IBM i expertise – Significant and proven experience on the IBM i platform (iSeries / AS/400), accompanied by the judgment acquired over the years in solving real business challenges.
• Understanding of business issues – You understand the operations behind the code (distribution, manufacturing, finance, or insurance) and recognize when a technical solution truly meets a business need.
• Advanced RPG expertise – Mastery of different forms of RPG, particularly RPGLE, including fully free-form syntax and integrated SQL.
• Database expertise – Advanced knowledge of DB2 application programming and database design.
• Mastery of modern ILE technologies – Solid understanding of modules, service programs, and binding directories.
• Change management – Comfort with structured deployment and version management processes.
• Communication bridging – Ability to explain the "why" to business stakeholders and the "how" to developers with equal ease.

Assets

• Experience with major IBM i ERP systems (Infor LX, BPCS, Infor XA, MAPICS, PRMS, JDE, Frontier, HFA, and others)
• Experience in distribution, manufacturing, finance, or insurance applications
• Knowledge of RDi or other Eclipse-based development environments
• Experience with Git or SVN in an IBM i environment
• Experience with impact analysis tools
• Experience integrating with APIs, JSON, XML, and tools like GoAnywhere
