Position Title

Mobile Phlebotomist

Position Summary

The Mobile Phlebotomist/Specimen Collector is responsible for collecting blood and other specimens from patients in various settings, including patient homes, physician offices, clinics, assisted living facilities, nursing facilities, and other client locations. Responsibilities include patient identification, specimen collection, specimen processing, accurate documentation, maintaining specimen integrity, and transporting specimens to the laboratory in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

The Mobile Phlebotomist is often the primary point of contact for patients and clients and is expected to provide courteous, professional service while ensuring accurate specimen collection, patient confidentiality, and compliance with company policies and procedures.

Work Schedule

Full-Time- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

At the discretion of the company and based upon operational or client needs:

• Work schedules, locations, and assigned routes may change.
• Occasional overtime, early morning, evening, or weekend work may be required.
• Additional travel may be required to support company operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Patient Care and Collection

• Verify patient identity using approved identifiers.
• Review and confirm test orders before specimen collection.
• Perform venipuncture blood collection procedures.
• Collect urine specimens and other specimen types as assigned.
• Assess patients and determine the most appropriate collection technique.
• Ensure patient comfort throughout the collection process.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions during and after collection.
• Provide patients with post-collection instructions and aftercare information.

Specimen Handling and Processing

• Properly label all specimens at the time of collection.
• Verify specimen accuracy and completeness prior to transport.
• Process specimens according to established procedures.
• Centrifuge and prepare specimens when required.
• Package specimens for transport following company and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain specimen integrity throughout collection, storage, and transportation.
• Deliver specimens to designated laboratory locations within established timeframes.

Documentation and Compliance

• Complete all required mileage logs, ABN forms, manifests, misc. logs and or forms
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and company policies.
• Protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Report specimen issues, incidents, and patient concerns to management promptly.
• Follow all infection control and safety procedures.

Mobile Operations

• Travel to assigned collection sites throughout the service area.
• Maintain adequate collection of supplies and inventory.
• Ensure company equipment is properly maintained and accounted for.
• Follow assigned collection schedules and routes.
• Communicate schedule changes, delays, or issues to supervisors promptly.

Customer Service

• Provide exceptional customer service to patients and clients.
• Maintain professionalism while representing the company.
• Foster positive working relationships with client staff.
• Address patient concerns professionally and courteously.
• Refrain from discussing confidential company matters with client personnel.

Qualifications:

Required

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to legally work in the United States.
• Ability to travel throughout assigned service areas.
• Ability to work assigned schedule and maintain regular attendance.

Preferred

• National phlebotomy certification through ASCP, AMT, NCCT, NHA, or equivalent.
• Previous phlebotomy or specimen collection experience.
• Experience working in mobile healthcare, laboratory, or clinical settings.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently enter and exit a vehicle during the workday.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
• Sufficient manual dexterity to perform venipuncture and specimen collection procedures.
• Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively with patients and staff.

Conditions of Employment

Employment is contingent upon:

• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check.
• Acceptable motor vehicle record review.
• Maintenance of a valid driver's license.
• Compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements.
