Travel RN Job Details

• Position: Travel Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)
• Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 23, 2026
• End Date: February 22, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours weekly
• Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatric patients, adolescents, adults, and older adults
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4–6
• Emergency Department Profile: Approximately 44 beds and 120 daily patient visits
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,960–$2,070
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, including Friday and Saturday nights; holiday coverage is required
• Orientation: Structured orientation is provided

Emergency Department Travel Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license in Maryland or a valid compact nursing license
• At least 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience
• At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment
• Recent experience caring for both adult and pediatric emergency patients
• Community hospital experience required
• Experience with Cerner electronic health records required
• Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications
• Strong triage, emergency assessment, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to complete required onboarding, clinical education, and specialty clearance assessments
• Flu vaccination is required

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

• Perform rapid assessments and triage patients according to acuity and presenting condition
• Provide safe, compassionate emergency nursing care for patients ranging from neonates to older adults
• Recognize and respond to life-threatening conditions, including stroke, cardiac emergencies, respiratory failure, sepsis, overdose, trauma, and behavioral health crises
• Administer emergency medications, blood products, IV therapies, sedation, and other prescribed treatments
• Initiate and maintain IV access, manage central lines and chest tubes, and assist with airway management and intubation
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, obtain 12-lead ECGs, interpret clinical changes, and escalate concerns promptly
• Care for ventilated patients and support patients receiving BiPAP or CPAP
• Apply appropriate isolation precautions and maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff
• Collaborate with providers, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
• Document assessments, interventions, reassessments, and patient outcomes accurately in Cerner
• Participate in weekend and holiday coverage as scheduled
