Manager Of It SystemsWe are seeking a Manager of IT Systems to serve as the firm's primary technology steward, overseeing day-to-day IT operations delivered through strategic managed service partners while maintaining hands-on accountability for the core systems that support a modern law practice. The role will help ensure that attorneys and staff have secure, reliable, and efficient access to document management, Microsoft 365, collaboration, endpoint, cybersecurity, onboarding/offboarding, and legal workflow platforms. This is a highly visible role reporting directly to firm leadership and advising a broader Technology Steering Committee on the strategic direction of the firm's technology investments — including legal tech platforms, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.The ideal candidate is a hands-on, service-oriented IT leader with law-firm or professional services experience and strong command of document management, Microsoft 365/Entra ID, endpoint and identity management, secure remote access, attorney onboarding/offboarding, matter-centric security, e-billing, and practice-support platforms. They can manage MSPs and vendors, resolve attorney-facing escalations, strengthen cybersecurity, and advise firm leadership on practical technology, legal tech, and AI investments.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee and manage the firm's strategic IT service partners, ensuring service delivery meets performance expectations and SLAs.Serve as the primary internal escalation point for technology issues affecting attorneys, staff, and firm operations.Manage relationships with technology vendors and negotiate contracts to deliver value and cost efficiency.Maintain operational oversight of core law-firm systems, including document management, Microsoft 365, identity and access management, endpoint management, printing/scanning, remote access, and collaboration platforms.Management and tracking of firm hardware and software assets, including life cycle of hardware, upgrades and maintenance.Coordinate attorney and staff onboarding, offboarding, permissions, device provisioning, application access, and secure matter-related technology workflows.Ensure the reliability, security, and performance of the firm's IT infrastructure across all office locations.Support litigation, transactional, and administrative teams by coordinating eDiscovery, secure file exchange, and other matter-specific technology needs with internal stakeholders and outside vendors.Technology Strategy & Steering CommitteeAdvise the firm's Technology Steering Committee on strategic technology investments, emerging trends, and prioritization.Develop and maintain a multi-year technology roadmap aligned with the firm's growth strategy and client service objectives.Lead evaluation, implementation, and optimization of legal technology platforms, including document management, knowledge management, e-billing, workflow automation, secure collaboration, and client-service tools.Champion AI adoption across the firm — identifying practical, high-value use cases for generative AI and legal AI tools and guiding responsible implementation.Cybersecurity & ComplianceOwn the firm's cybersecurity posture, policies, and incident response readiness.Ensure compliance with applicable data protection regulations and legal industry security standards.Drive a security-first culture through training, awareness, and policy enforcement.Manage business continuity and disaster recovery planning.Oversee access controls, privileged accounts, data retention practices, vendor security reviews, and client-driven security requirements in coordination with firm leadership and service partners.QualificationsRequired5+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, with a meaningful portion in a law firm or professional services environment.Demonstrated experience managing outsourced/managed IT service providers and holding vendors accountable to high-performance standards.Strong working knowledge of law-firm technology environments, including document management systems, Microsoft 365/Entra ID, endpoint and identity management, secure remote access, collaboration tools, e-billing, and practice-support platforms.Experience supporting attorney workflows, matter-centric security, onboarding/offboarding, vendor coordination, and escalation management in a confidential professional services environment.Proven ability to develop and execute technology strategy at an organizational level.Experience advising senior leadership on technology direction, ROI, and risk.Deep knowledge of cybersecurity principles, frameworks, and best practices in a legal or professional services context.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable presenting to partners and firm leadership.PreferredExperience with AI and emerging legal tech tools and the ability to evaluate and implement them thoughtfully.Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, PMP) a plus.Compensation & BenefitsTotal compensation of $150,000 – $175,000, based on experience.Comprehensive benefits package.
