Veterinary Technician - Surgery

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team. Pay: $20.00 - $40.50 / hour This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system. ** Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience** A BluePearl Surgery Technician is responsible for some post‑operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Preference is given to candidates who have a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. A rotating on‑call schedule is required once training has been completed. As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will: Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values. Utilize the ability to place a peripheral intravenous catheter in the cephalic vein. Perform a physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort. Understand normal vital parameters and alert the doctor when abnormal. Be able to set up intravenous fluids. Administer subcutaneous fluids. Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors. Disconnect and connect the patient from intravenous fluids aseptically. Monitor patient response to fluid therapy, including signs of overload. Why BluePearl? Our passion is pets.
