Hiring Cooks

This role prepares, cooks, and presents a variety of hot and cold food items for multiple meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special or catered events. The cook accurately follows recipes and instructions, prepares made-to-order dishes, and ensures every plate meets quality, safety, and presentation standards while delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold food items for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special or catered events.
• Prepare and cook foods to order that may require short preparation times, similar to a short-order cook.
• Prepare food and serve customers at an la carte station and operate a grill station as needed.
• Follow basic recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food items.
• Read food orders or receive verbal instructions from patrons and prepare and cook food according to those instructions.
• Provide a consistently high level of customer service to guests, patients, and families in the caf and kitchen areas.
• Take customer orders, interact courteously with guests, and ensure their needs and expectations are met.
• Work with patient food service in the kitchen, including preparation and handling of patient meals in accordance with standards and guidelines.
• Maintain proper handling, storage, and use of supplies and materials to support safe and efficient food production.
• Prepare food in accordance with applicable federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service.
• Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures during all work activities.
• Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training sessions, and hazard assessments.
• Apply applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned tasks and work areas.
• Support a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment in all food preparation and service areas.
• Collaborate with team members and leadership to ensure smooth service during peak meal periods and special events.

The role operates primarily in an indoor hospital foodservice setting, with occasional participation in outside activities and events. Schedules follow an open-shift model, with work hours that may fall between 5:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, along with rotating weekends. The position may also require availability for evenings, holidays, weekends, and extended hours based on business needs. The environment includes a caf, kitchen, and grill or la carte stations, supported by modern facilities and equipment designed to deliver high-quality food service.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lancaster, PA. The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
