Technologist, Rad II-SHARE, Days, 20 hours

Position Summary Radiologic Technician – Non-Exempt. Salary range $36.04 – $51.28 per hour, subject to adjustment based on experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity. Schedule Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Day Shift, 20 hours per week. Signing bonus may be available. I. Major Responsibilities Prepares patient for exams, ensures comfort and modesty, verifies identification, obtains informed consent and contrast questionnaire as appropriate, consults with Radiologist regarding contrast administration. Participates in patient transfer, positions and instructs patients to obtain desired images. Follows department policies and procedures, adjusts techniques as needed, and maintains self-initiative. Provides protection of unaffected body areas from radiation exposure. Calculates technical factors, selects appropriate equipment, positions patient and equipment to meet protocol. Evaluates images for proper identification and diagnostic quality, adjusts techniques, checks equipment condition. Operates imaging equipment according to diagnostic procedures, maintains computed radiography and direct imaging equipment, reviews electronic images for quality and completeness. Operates portable X‑ray equipment in patient rooms, surgery, and other locations; transfers or duplicates films/images as directed. Follows PACS workflow procedures, works with electronic work lists, and ensures images are acquired and exams completed in RIS timely. Initiates hard stop when appropriate and informs staff. Monitors patients receiving contrast for adverse reactions; informs staff if needed. Provides explanations to patients and families. Assists physicians in specialized examinations by preparing equipment, syringes and contrast media, holding and turning patients, administering contrast media, and passing instruments. Provides sterile supplies as required. Ensures records and requisitions are properly completed for identification, billing, and statistical purposes. Prepares images for radiologist review. Performs duties in other radiology areas and modalities as needed, rotating into assigned areas. Reports hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to supervisor; removes defective equipment from service. Maintains work area clean and orderly, supplies rooms properly, and initiates requisitions for supplies. Practices ALARA principles and uses personal dosimeters. II. Position Qualifications License/Certification/Education: RTR licensure in Massachusetts, including a temporary (1‑year) MA license. ARRT certification in Radiology within 12 months of hire. BLS certification. Additional specialty modalities may require formal training and certification. Experience/Skills: Maintain all area‑specific CEUs for ARRT, DPH according to regulation. Equivalent combination of education and experience that provides proficiency may be substituted for the above requirements. III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions Medium physical demand. Work indoors in a patient care environment. Rotate through three radiology sites as needed.
