Description We are seeking a Director of Music Ministry. The Director of Music Ministry will seek to glorify God and aid in the participation of the faithful through the beautification of the Mass with sacred music. The Director will work closely with the Pastor, the volunteers and the Liturgy Committee of the parish. The candidate should also be an accomplished organist, pianist and choir director. Serves as Choir Director for Adult and Children's Choir to include recruiting for regular and special services and Masses. Maintenance of Roster of Cantors, Musicians and Substitutes. Plans and conducts rehearsals; providing appropriate training for Cantors, and all other musicians. Prepares Worship Aids for all Services and Masses. Selection of appropriate Music, Hymns, Chants for Masses and Services. Takes part in the development of sacramental guidelines to include Weddings and Funerals as relates to music. Evening and Weekend Masses. Occasionally, depending on Liturgical Calendar, morning Masses. Requirements Proficiency in Organ, Piano, Choir Directing & a working knowledge of vocal coaching.. Demonstrates knowledge of the place of music used in the Liturgy, including Litanies, Acclamations, Psalmody Exhibits an understanding of the requirements of the lectionary, the liturgical calendar, the sacramentary and sacramental rites is necessary. Remains current on repertoire of music available and can select appropriately from contemporary sources as well as from traditional sacred music. Maintains membership in professional organizations such as Director of Music Ministries Division of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM), American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) for peer support, enrichment. Has knowledge of theory and harmony and the ability to write simple musical scores (parts, descants). Will plan and prepare for Weekend Liturgies: Saturday 5:00 PM Mass, Sundays: 2 morning Masses, solemnities and Special Services. Flexible Schedule of 30 hours per week to accommodate the Church's music needs.
