Olympia Driver

Job Title

This is a responsible, part-time position within the Parks, Recreation, and Communications Department that supports the overall operations, programs, facilities, events, and services of the department.

Examples Of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

Olympia driver will be responsible for routine ice resurfaces, Driver will assist in preparing facilities for all practices, games and other events. They will do daily building inspections and perform daily custodial duties. Examples of work:

• Perform custodial duties such as cleaning locker rooms, bathrooms, bleachers, changing arena trash, and snow removal if necessary
• Perform ice resurfaces in accordance to ice schedule
• Enforce Arena rules and policies no running in the bleachers, no stick and ball play, etc.
• Perform minor repair and maintenance work such as replacing broken glass

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

Be at least 18 years old; and possess a valid Michigan Driver's License

Have the ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds; and

Have the ability to demonstrate techniques and skills associated with the position

High school diploma or equivalent (current high school or college students encouraged to apply)

Interest in working with children and supporting youth in an educational and recreational setting

Ability to provide a safe, positive, and supportive environment for students

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to follow directions, policies, and safety procedures

Dependable, punctual, and able to work scheduled shifts consistently

Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Willingness to learn and participate in program training

Ability to pass required background checks and pre-employment screenings as required by the City

Role Work Schedule

We are looking for someone that can work weekends and nights 15-20 hours per week from August to May. Extra hours offered for additional rentals, events or programs, and summer work.
