Outside Commercial Sales Representative

The Outside Commercial Sales Representative is responsible for maintaining and growing an assigned commercial sales portfolio by identifying new business opportunities, nurturing existing accounts, and delivering exceptional customer service. This role actively executes the commercial sales process, conducts in-person visits, and partners closely with store teams to drive B2B success across the territory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sales and Business Development

• Grow assigned territory by identifying, qualifying, and securing new commercial customers.

• Develop and execute account-specific action plans to increase sales volume and customer engagement.

• Conduct outbound cold calls and schedule appointments to generate new leads.

• Assign qualified prospects to the appropriate commercial sales portfolio.

• Support and execute all phases of the commercial sales process, providing feedback for continuous improvement.

Customer Relationship Management

• Build and maintain long-term relationships with commercial customers.

• Collaborate with stores to ensure seamless order processing, delivery, and service.

• Prepare and present tailored product and service proposals; follow up to secure commitments.

• Promote the use of B2B ordering solutions where appropriate.

• Reactivate lost or inactive customer accounts through proactive outreach.

• Deliver commercial training to store teams as needed to enhance customer support.

Reporting Analysis

• Review sales and activity reports regularly to identify trends and action opportunities.

• Complete annual competitive analysis to inform territory strategy.

• Track and report customer interactions, opportunities, and outcomes through CRM.

Operational and Administrative Support

• Coordinate with Accounts Receivable to assist in collection activities.

• Collect and validate customer contact information to support marketing campaigns.

• Maintain strong knowledge of competitor offerings and general market trends.

• Assist in preparing special pricing and bid quotes when requested.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in direct B2B sales or commercial sales.

• Strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; able to present to small groups.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Google Suite; familiarity with CRM platforms preferred.

• Proven prospecting, negotiating, and closing skills.

• Ability to calculate percentages, ratios, and algebraic expressions.

• Self-motivated, energetic, and results-oriented.

• Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

• Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% as needed.
