Adjunct Instructor- Public Speaking

This position is located on site at Independence High School. Adjunct Faculty If you are interested in teaching in a college or university setting, it can be helpful to gain experience as an adjunct instructor. Many of our adjunct instructors hold a full‑time career elsewhere, and choose to teach in our evening, weekend, and online programs so that they may have the opportunity to teach students. Independence Community College employs adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate level courses. Essential Job Duties Organize and teach online classes as assigned. Deliver quality instruction which prepares students for further education and/or the workplace. Manage the teaching environment to serve all learners. Provide regular and timely evaluation feedback to students. Maintain student attendance records. Submit mid‑term and final grades. Participate in institutional effectiveness initiatives including assessment and evaluation. Demonstrate professionalism with faculty, administration, staff and students. Perform other duties as needed or assigned. Qualifications Required Master’s degree in the chosen discipline, or a master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate credits in the concentration. Preferred Higher education teaching experience. Experience with the Canvas learning management platform. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, and sit.
