Controls Technician

About the Role Direct hire opportunity with 75% travel to jobsites. Job Description Position: Controls Technician Under general supervision, perform start‑up, maintenance, service, troubleshooting, inspection, and monitoring of machine tool and automation equipment. Main responsibilities include debugging electrical systems and working with mechanical and fluid personnel to set up, verify, and troubleshoot entire systems. Core Competencies Ability to understand and troubleshoot electrical schematics. Relate principles of electrical circuits to mechanical and fluid systems. Ability to understand and troubleshoot PLC ladder diagrams. Ability to understand and troubleshoot CNC programs. Technically competent with strong analytical capabilities. Good written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Competencies Experience with Allen Bradley PLC includes RSLogix and Factory Talk Studio programming software. Experience with Siemens PLCs and/or CNCs including Step7 and WinCC programming software. Experience with Fanuc CNCs including Fladder and Fapt Picture programming software. Experience with robotics. Education / Experience Minimum two‑year Electrical Engineering Technology degree or five years’ experience in a similar field. Duties and Responsibilities Provides technical assistance during assembly, installation, and service support. Responsible for communicating all engineering modifications and corrective actions for documentation. Power‑up, set up, and troubleshoot machine control systems. Assist in diagnosing machine problems including fluids, pneumatics and mechanical systems. Review and verify accuracy of control drawings before final release to customer. Assist software designer in debugging logic on machine. Communicate regularly with manager regarding schedule and machine status. Assist in preparing control instruction manuals and training. Assist in training new employees for specific job knowledge in all areas. Identify and support continuous improvements of operations and products. International and domestic travel required. Work Environment Summary Works in a factory environment using a computer, multimeter, hand tools, power tools, and other assembly equipment. May encounter frequent interruptions, needs to communicate with others, perform manual labor, sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
