Part-Time Manual Labor Fort Bragg, CA, US Salary Range: $18.00 To $20.00 Hourly Mendocino Railway is the owner/operator of passenger and freight railroads including the California Western Railroad (CWR) / Skunk Trainand theRiver Fox Train . The world-famous Skunk Train is a standard gauge passenger railroad that was founded in 1885, and operates 40 miles between Fort Bragg and Willits, in Mendocino County, California. The Skunk Trainis looking for a dependable, friendly, and guest-focused individual to join the crew as a Kitchen Cashier . This role will greet guests, accurately process food and beverage orders and payments, maintain an organized and clean service area, and help ensure a positive guest experience. This position operates in a fast-paced food service and commercial kitchen environment. Team members are expected to maintain professionalism, cleanliness, food safety, and excellent customer service standards at all times. This is a part-time position and includes working evenings, weekends, and holidays. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to) Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner and provide excellent customer service. Accurately take and enter food and beverage orders into the point-of-sale (POS) system. Process credit card transactions accurately. Maintain accountability for payments and report discrepancies to management. Answer guest questions regarding menu items, pricing, ingredients, and available food and beverage options. Communicate guest orders clearly and accurately to kitchen staff. Verify orders for accuracy and completeness before providing them to guests. Assist with packaging, organizing, and distributing food orders. Maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas. Restock utensils, napkins, condiments, beverages, and other service supplies as needed. Assist with basic food preparation, stocking, and kitchen support duties as assigned. Follow food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures at all times. Assist with opening and closing procedures, including preparing and cleaning the cashier/service area. Support kitchen staff and management during high-volume service periods. Assist with special events and other food service operations as needed. Respond professionally to guest questions or concerns and elevate issues to management when appropriate. Follow all applicable health and safety laws, regulations, standards, and company policies. Communicate effectively with guests, crew members and supervisors to ensure seamless service. Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Previous cashier, restaurant, food service, retail, or customer service experience preferred. Valid Food Handler Certification preferred or ability to obtain. Experience operating a POS system preferred. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to accurately process transactions. Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language with ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and coworkers. Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail. Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Ability to multitask effectively during busy service periods. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical requirements of the position. Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and special events. Positive attitude and willingness to assist with kitchen and food service duties as needed. Pre‑employment drug screen (including cannabis) and criminal background check required prior to hiring. Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand for extended periods and walk on uneven surfaces (train platforms, gravel, etc.). Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. safely. Ability to bend, reach, stoop, push, pull, and stand for long periods of time. Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments and around moving rail equipment (with provided safety training). Must be able to perform duties safely while on the tracks and a moving train.
