Licensed Psychologist
Portlandpsychotherapyclinic
Portland, Oregon · Full-time · Hybrid · About $120K at 20 clients/week, $145K at 24 - you set the number Portland Psychotherapy Clinic, Research, & Training Center is a leading center for evidence-based therapy, especially Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and psychedelic-assisted therapy, with a local, national, and international reputation for clinical work, training, and research. We're a locally owned social enterprise of about 25 people, and we're looking for licensed psychologists to join our team. Is this you? Do you want the freedom and flexibility of private practice without the work or risk of running one? We handle scheduling, billing, marketing, and the rest of the bureaucracy so you can focus on what you do best: excellent therapy. Do you want to keep getting better at therapy, not just keep doing it? Every new clinician here joins a structured first-year training program (more below), and continued learning is built into how we work. Do you want a setting that supports you in having a life outside of work? Many of our clinicians work a four-day week. We prioritize development and also actively support balance. Do you value diversity and inclusion in your work? So do we, and we are continually working to be more inclusive, just, and culturally responsive. Our team is multicultural and anti-racist, and includes staff who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ, first-generation immigrants, first-generation college students, neurodivergent, and others. We have a specialty in serving the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and most of our clients belong to that community. We are seeking to expand the diversity of our staff so we can be of service to more people. Do you like the idea of working in a scientist-practitioner model alongside colleagues who are actively doing research? We're one of the few practices that truly integrates research and clinical work. Several of our clinicians are also researchers, and ideas move between the two through our training program and team meetings. Do you want to work for a local organization that cares about its team and its community, rather than a huge system or an online platform? As a social enterprise, our bottom line isn't profit for owners; it’s meaningful impact on our community and our field. A first year built around your development Every new clinician joins our first-year didactic seminar : a weekly, small-cohort course with an emphasis on deliberate practice. Alongside the ACT core taught by an internationally recognized ACT trainer, the seminar rotates through topics drawn from our specialties, including trauma treatment, compassion-focused approaches, working with shame and self-criticism, psychedelic harm reduction and integration, and LGBTQIA2S+ affirming care. It meets one hour per week plus a small-group meeting. You'll also take part in our monthly all-staff didactic and you can attend any of the dozens of workshops we host each year - led by leading experts in ACT, psychedelic-assisted therapy, DEI, and more - free of charge. Most therapists piece together their continuing education on their own time and their own dime. Here it's part of the job. What a week looks like A typical full-time clinician sees 18 to 24 clients across four days, has one one-hour team meeting, and (in the first year) one seminar hour plus a small group. Many people work from home one or two days a week. Nobody makes billing calls. The rest of your time is yours for notes, consultation, prep, and whatever else supports your work. Compensation About $120K for roughly 20 client contacts per week and $140K for 24 , with variation based on experience. Pay is tied to clients seen, so you can earn significantly more if you choose to see more. Twenty client contacts per week is a full-time position; there is no hidden productivity floor above that. What we offer Autonomy You control how many and which clients you see Clients matched to your interests and areas of expertise Hybrid work, if you want it Flexible scheduling; many clinicians work four days Support Customized EHR; we do all the billing Minimal paperwork and very strong administrative support Beautiful, ADA-accessible offices in a restored 1889 Victorian in the N. Williams corridor, plus full telehealth support Established referral relationships and a strong reputation with colleagues Ways to grow The first-year didactic seminar and free access to all of our training events Stipend for professional education, plus a dedicated stipend for training in anti-racist practice, diversity, equity, and inclusion Supervision or consultation to help you develop skill in new areas of practice Optional opportunities to supervise trainees and teach in our workshop series Funding - including salary support - for special projects such as community outreach or scholarly work Opportunities to get involved in research conducted at the center, including our work in ACT and psychedelic-assisted therapy Medical, dental, and vision plans Retirement plan with 3% match Life and long-term disability insurance Malpractice insurance Paid onboarding and relocation assistance Bring your well-behaved animal companion to work Happy hours and other events to connect with colleagues What you’ll do This position reports to the Director of Clinical Operations. Schedule your own clients, or have our admin team do it for you Conduct therapy as you deem best, with minimal interference Meet with the clinical team one hour a week In your first year, join the weekly new-clinician didactic seminar (one hour per week plus a small-group meeting) Chart and bill in our EHR and keep documentation current Consult with colleagues and outside providers as needed to support the best care for your clients Provide case management when a client needs it Keep your Oregon license and continuing education current (we fund your training) Continue to build your cultural competence and your ability to provide culturally responsive, affirming, anti-racist care Occasionally take on other duties as assigned Who we’re looking for Required Current license as a psychologist in Oregon or license eligible Training in ACT, RO DBT, DBT, behavior therapy, emotion-focused therapy, compassion-focused therapy, or newer forms of CBT Interest in and use of evidence-based practice Committed to LGBTQIA2S+ affirming, anti-racist, and culturally informed therapy Self-directed and organized A kind person with a positive attitude A minimum three-year commitment to the role - we invest heavily in your first year, and we're looking for people who want to stay and build something Preferred Adds to the diversity of our staff Physical and other demands Ability to manage a caseload and provide therapy in a professional setting Capacity to engage in ongoing professional development and training Portland Psychotherapy is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an affirming and inclusive environment for all employees. People from historically marginalized populations, including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ people, are encouraged to apply. About Portland Psychotherapy We're a social enterprise: all profits are reinvested in our community and our field rather than distributed to owners. That funds Medicaid services, scholarships for our #J-18808-Ljbffr Portlandpsychotherapyclinic
