Manufacturing Technician

This role supports several departments within a precision metal manufacturing facility by assisting with general production activities. The position is ideal for someone with prior manufacturing or production experience who enjoys staying busy, learning multiple processes, and working around machinery. You will move throughout the production floor assisting machine operators, reviewing job travelers, selecting raw materials, and supporting equipment such as tube cutting machines, centerless grinders, and winding equipment while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret job travelers and written work instructions to understand material requirements, production specifications, job routing, order dimensions, and quantity requirements.
• Select the correct raw materials for production orders based on travelers and specifications.
• Support machine operators throughout the production process by preparing materials, staging work, and assisting with basic machine-related tasks.
• Move materials and finished goods between departments to maintain production flow and meet schedule requirements.
• Verify dimensions and specifications before production begins using basic measurement tools and checks.
• Maintain quality standards throughout manufacturing operations by following established procedures and documentation requirements.
• Keep work areas organized, clean, and free of hazards to support efficient and safe production.
• Follow all safety and quality procedures at all times when working around machinery and handling materials.
• Work comfortably around tube cutting machines, centerless grinders, winding equipment, and other production machinery while learning multiple manufacturing processes.
• Support production tracking and documentation activities in alignment with ERP systems and manufacturing records.
• Handle materials and inventory in accordance with material handling and stockroom practices.
• Contribute to a team-focused, fast-paced production environment by communicating clearly and collaborating with coworkers across departments.

Essential Skills

• Manufacturing or production experience with an understanding of production flow, quality expectations, and working safely around machinery (1+ year preferred).
• Ability to read and follow job travelers and written manufacturing work instructions in English.
• Basic measurement and dimension comprehension, including comfort with fractions, decimals, length measurements, and diameter measurements.
• Aptitude for machine operation and willingness to learn how to support tube cutting machines, winders, and centerless grinders.
• Strong attention to detail to prevent errors, scrap, and production delays in a tight-tolerance environment.
• Dependability and reliable attendance to support multiple departments and maintain production schedules.
• Ability to stand throughout the entire shift and move frequently between departments.
• Ability to lift up to 40–50 pounds safely as part of material handling activities.
• Comfort working around machinery in a precision metal manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and understand English work instructions and production documentation.
• Reliable transportation to consistently arrive on time for scheduled shifts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in metal manufacturing environments.
• Mechanical aptitude and interest in learning equipment operation and set-up.
• Experience working with measurements and dimensions in a production setting.
• Familiarity with blueprints and basic blueprint reading (not required but beneficial).
• Experience using measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
• Exposure to CNC machines and related manufacturing equipment.
• Knowledge of GMP regulations and quality inspection practices.
• Background in material handling, inventory, and stockroom processes.
• Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and production tracking tools.
• Interest in developing skills that can lead to roles such as Machine Operator, Set-up Technician, Quality Technician, or Manufacturing Specialist.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Natick, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
